“Hi, I’m JoAnne Swapp the engineering manager here at Integra Optics. On this episode of “What the Tech”, I’m going to show you how Integra’s Smart Coder can help you increase efficiency and network uptime.”

“Imagine; you’re on a job site troubleshooting an outage. It’s late at night, of course, and you realize you don’t have the optics you need to get your network back up. This is the main reason we developed the Integra Smart Coder. The concept was to have a practical, tech-friendly tool to allow you to quickly read through an optics right in the field. Instead of stocking a large amount of inventory to cover all platforms, our customers can stock Integra brand optics and use the Smart Coder to seamlessly switch between platforms. An optic which is coded for Cisco today can be coded for Arista tomorrow.”

“Now, let’s go take a look at how the smart coder works. Start with installing the Smart Coder application onto any computer or tablet. The app can be found at integraoptics.com/install. Plug the Smart Coder into any computer via USB connection. Next, plug in the transceiver you wish to recode. The Smart Coder currently supports XFP, SFP, SFPP, and QSFP transceivers. Once the transceiver is plugged in the smart coder will automatically display diagnostics and additional details about that transceiver. You’ll also notice the coding options available. To recode the optic, you simply select the desired configuration and platform and hit the code button. The optic is immediately reconfigured and ready to plug in. Plus, if you get stuck, our in-app Smart Support feature allows Integra engineers to remotely access the optic and provide your technicians with real-time support. The last feature of our Smart Coder is a history log of all platforms which a transceiver has been coded to, for your reference.”
